The Beauty of Christmas

So many hands work together to prepare for our annual Christmas sale.

With Grateful Hearts

As we look back over the past year, our hearts overflow with gratitude for your partnership in ministry; we treasure you all.

Volunteers, you have outdone yourself this past year; going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure every aspect of this ministry is covered. Your commitment and dedication inspire us! Pop-Up Sale shoppers and contributors, thank you for continually supporting these sales. Without you, this would not be possible. Monthly donors who give regularly, despite the challenging economy, you make us sing for joy! And to those who feel prompted to give a special, one-time gift to this ministry. You are like a hug from heaven, that comes down at just the right time and just the right amount. Business Partners, a special thank you for making it possible to give 100% to the children at the Ya Bana Village.

This past year we have seen God work in incredible ways and we are so thankful for the part that each of you played. You all bless us beyond belief with your continued love and faithfulness. You have made a lasting impact on us all, and especially on our Ya Bana family. May God bless each and every one of you!

Ya Bana Excels!

Thanks to so many who have joined our Race to 300, (a fundraiser to provide monthly scholarships for children to attend private Christian schools), many of Ya Bana's students have been given an opportunity of a lifetime. These schools are making an impact on our students by cultivating academic excellence and offering extracurricular activities.

Here are just a few of the comments the school has made about Ya Bana students and some of their achievements:
“Amo, exhibits a constructive approach to her learning, consistently exerting maximum effort in her academic tasks.”
“Emily consistently embodies the finest qualities of character, including respect, a wonderful sense of humor, and unwavering helpfulness. She is truly a dynamo, constantly bussing with activity.”
An award was given to Jabulile as the top achiever in Technology in Grade 8.
Katlego was recognized for being the cleanest and neatest learner.
Obakeng received a Soccer award.
Yoghurt and Katlego received awards in Sports.
Tlhogi was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Dramatic Arts, Grade 11.
Kgothatso was awarded the Bronze Award.
And, Boiki, just graduated from High School and will be transitioning into the Youth Living Center, where he will continue on his roadmap to Godly success. Boiki is extremely passionate about animals and is interested in training as a security officer, specializing in their K-9 unit.
Congratulations to all our students for their successes. We also salute our mothers, tutors and management for their perseverance in encouraging our students to do their very best. Thank you for being an example of your willingness to continue learning through seminars, workshops and classes. Praise be to God for this promise he made for all of us. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

We are still looking for sponsors for the education of our children at Ya Bana! It is our hope for all Ya Bana students to have the opportunity to attend Acudeo, a private Christian school. To learn more about how you can help improve the educational security and well-being of a child by joining the Race to 300, please visit our website at: https://mabopanekids.org/race-to-300/

10th Annual Golf Tournament

A huge praise that on October 30th we were blessed to host our 10th annual Mabopane Foundation Golf Tournament. No donation was too small as more than eighty donors, with donations ranging from $20 to $1500 came together to make this year’s tournament a success. More than $28,000 was raised in support of Ya Bana Village and the beautiful children who live there! God blessed us with a beautiful day, many wonderful prizes and raffle items (all generously donated by individuals and local businesses), joyful volunteers and, of course, golfers who gave generously of their time and resources to make this event a success. Check out all of the photos from this wonderful day on our facebook page and catch a glimpse of what your part might be in the 2024 golf tournament!

Volunteer with us in the New Year

The Mabopane Foundation is run almost entirely by volunteers so that 100% of donations can go to the Ya Bana Village. That means that we need volunteers for every area of the foundation.

In particular, we are in need of volunteers to assist at sales, help in our office, and to sort/price donated items. Whether you are able to work a few hours a week or a few hours a month, we need your help!

Please contact admin@mabopanekids.org or call 919-362-8974 if you are interested in volunteering!

We are also accepting applications for our board of directors with possible experience in finances, law, marketing, or fundraising. If you are interested in finding out more or applying, email sarah@mabopanekids.org to receive an application and instructions.
Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Meet up at the Gathering Place

The Gathering Place, at the Mabopane Marketplace provides the perfect atmosphere for small gatherings. The gathering place is a beautiful, converted grain bin that is decorated with our artisan and antique donations that are for sale. This space can be used as a meeting room for your Bible study group, girls night out, book club, friends and/or family time. During that time, Becky, the founder of the Mabopane Foundation, would love to share with your group about the work that God is doing at the Ya Bana Village. You'll also have the opportunity to shop while you are there! Please reach out to Becky if you are interested in hearing about the foundation and using this facility for your time together!

The gathering place made possible, with love, by Wayne Abbott and the Becky Hatcher Family.

Contact Becky at 919-818-3804 or becky.young@mabopanekids.org to reserve a time for your group at the gathering place

CLOSED FOR DROPOFFS

Just a reminder that the foundation is closed for dropoffs from

Pray

Please spend some time praying this season for the children at the Ya Bana village, for the staff members, and for the community around the village.

The Beauty of Christmas: Coming Together

At the Mabopane Marketplace (previously called the mission house), Christmas is felt at the end of October when the entire sales area is transformed into a Christmas Spectacular. Many customers refer to it as a mini-Biltmore House, where every room radiates the beauty of Christmas.

Christmas items are dropped off, processed, collected, priced and stored throughout the year in preparation for this major fundraising event. We want to give a special thanks to Kelly Lipscomb and Janet Johnson who tirelessly organized the donated items for this sale. Two weeks prior to this event, our family of volunteers, along with treasured men's and women's Bible Study groups, youth groups, grandchildren and friends come together, pouring heart and soul into our yearly Christmas Open House. This event inspires the warmest of celebrations with all our partners, volunteers, customers, contributors and supporters. Our Ya Bana staff and children are also inspired to do their very best, knowing that the Mabopane Family of Volunteers, a whole world away, is working so hard to offer them the opportunity to reach their God-given potential.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for making this year, Merry & Bright, through your gift of time, talent, and treasures for our beautiful Ya Bana Family! And to God be the honor and glory forever and ever for His faithfulness, provisions, protection and His lovingkindness! And for giving us His very best gift, our Lord Jesus Christ!

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and God's blessings in the new year,
Becky
