"Changing lives by sharing God's love and hope with children in need"

"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." Matthew 25:40

A hug from God

Unexpected blessings are like a hug from God. Our Ya Bana children received a special blessing from the Hatcher Family Memorial Fund to cover the cost of clothing for a year.

We thank God and praise Him for the beautiful people He places in our lives to help with this God-sized task! Look at the smiles on the faces of our Ya Bana children after receiving their winter robes, pjs and slippers!

"Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like the shifting shadows.."

James 1:17

PRAISE GOD FOR YA BANA VILLAGE

"Dear Ya Bana Village:

Love you all! I want to say thank you for taking good care of me and making sure I am alright. I wish I could make something nice for Ya Bana Village. One promise is that when I grow up I will visit Ya Bana Village."
The sweet message shown above was sent from this beautiful young girl named Mpho who lives in our White House. Thank you to all our beautiful mothers, Village Father, Social Workers and other staff and children for making not only Mpho but ALL who come to Ya Bana Village feel welcomed.
The African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child" is so true.

HAND & HEARTS VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: "ALL FOR KIDS" TEAM

Left to right: Terri Feiertag, Barbara Martin, Sharon Hall, and Barbara Jo Timberlake
We have some wonderful people who serve passionately and give generously of their time. This incredible team of volunteers, under the leadership of Barbara Martin, collect our donated children's and infant's clothing and toys from the Mission House. They work off-site in Barbara Martin's detached 2-car garage to sort, clean, price, and hang items that are then taken twice each year to multiple consignment sales: one in Raleigh, two in Cary, and one in Wilmington.

Summer items are sold in January through March and winter items are first sold in July and then again in September and October.

If you are interested in purchasing children's items at a time other than at one of the consignment sales, please contact Barbara M. at 919-805-0102 to schedule an appointment.

Thank you ladies for going above and beyond to insure that we make the most of the treasures our Ministry Friends provide. Just saying 'thank you' doesn't seem enough. We hope you all know how much you are appreciated.

HAND & HEARTS MONTHLY LUNCHEONS RETURN

To All Volunteers:

Since the weather is warm and COVID restrictions have been relaxed, we are able to resume our popular monthly volunteer luncheons! With volunteers working different days, times and locations, it is often challenging to get together. This luncheon offers us the opportunity to share a meal and fellowship.

The luncheon is at 12:00 noon on the Thursday after the first sale of the month. Each month different volunteers plan the menu. A signup sheet to help with cooking is posted on the refrigerator along with the menu. And a guest sheet will also be displayed on the refrigerator. Everyone is welcome --- just add your name to the guest sheet so the cooks will know how much food to prepare!

Dates for the next three luncheons are as follows:

June 17 (after the June 11-12 sale)
July 15 (after the July 9-10 sale)
August 19 (after the August 13-14 sale)

Hope to see you there!

BECKY PREPARES FOR YA BANA TRIP

After one year and four months, international travel to South Africa has resumed. Finally, God has made a way, in His perfect timing, for me to return to our Ya Bana Village July 1st through August 7th. I love these children, and the distance that separates us has, at times, seemed unbearable. I cannot imagine how they must have grown! And there are some little ones that I've never even met. I can't wait to see their beautiful smiles and get to know them better! I am elated to say the very least!!!

Baby Becky, Michael's and Nana's beautiful baby girl, was born on May 29th of last year. As her granny, I get to meet her, hold her, kiss her for the very first time and celebrate her birth! God is great!!!

I look forward to spending time with all of the children and staff; time to catch up and hear all their God stories and share mine as well. This is the time to thank our Lord for being with us every step of the way throughout this difficult time and encourage others in their journeys.

It is our hope to plan a retreat with the children while I am there. Please pray for provisions for possible venues, good weather and safety.
Ya Bana Village.
Meetings will also be scheduled with the Ya Bana Board of Directors, contractors, engineers, and school administrators. Please pray with us as we discern God's will for upcoming projects that will greatly impact our Ya Bana children and their futures.

And friends, thank you all for your tremendous love, financial and prayer support all these years. You have made Ya Bana what it is today! You have given these precious children a hope for a better tomorrow, and for that I am forever grateful!

Love., Becky

"Whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me."

Please stop by and purchase some fresh strawberries along with one or more of these delicious cakes and pies. Remember that all proceeds from the sale of these items support travel and related expenses for Becky and Stanley to travel to South Africa.
